Believe in yourself

The strength lies in every single one of us.

How many of you are guilty of saying things like "I can't possibly succeed doing this!", "Are you sure I'll be able to do this?", "Impossible!", "I can't!" and so on? I'm sure most of us are guilty of this.
When we doubt our own ability, how then do we expect others to put full trust in us when a particular task or job is assigned to us?

Let me share an experience of my own.
I once used to claim that I really can't achieve many things. That was a few years ago when I was in junior college. Of course I still tried my best, I still didn't do that well in the end. I asked myself, "Why did this happen?" To say the truth, my primary school years and secondary school years were very much a breeze although I did have to struggle a little and work extremely hard for my olevels. So my results for Alevels did hit me quite hard. After much thinking, I found the answer to it. Somehow, I allowed myself to think that it's too difficult to achieve good results and so it'll always remain like that no matter how hard I work.

However, everything's going well in university as I now believe in myself and my own abilities. Of course, doing something you are passionate in is important too. Now that I'm studying something of my passion, it becomes studying for the quest and enjoyment of learning about it rather than just study for the sake of the piece of certificate, which if otherwise would make it hard for us to get a decent job. So I believe very strongly that we should follow our hearts and believe in ourselves.

My experience above may not be something very big, but it does prove that the amount of belief you put in yourself will definitely affect what you achieve. So please, my dearest readers, I hope there's a sort of motivation here and that you'll start believing in yourself.

Will terror ever be wiped out?

Terrorism has been something on the minds of people around the world for many years.
Was the war in Afghanistan worth it? Is the situation improving over there?

Just recently, president Obama sent 20,000 more troops to Afghanistan. But do we really know how wide the terror networks are? I guess that is something we will never be able to get exact statistics.

Last month, a nigerian attempted to blow up a plane which was about to land in Amsterdam. After investigations, it is found that he holds extremist views and had received training by the Al-Queda, after which getting the bomb equipments from Yemen. Does this mean that terror networks have expanded to Yemen? I do agree with what President Obama said about security. It really has to be stepped up in all countries around the world, no matter whether it is in planes or airports. Both are easy targets by terrorists and hence, I feel that nothing should be loosened up.

Following that incident, there was another similar incident but the culprit was stopped at the checkpoint before he could get up the plane.

Peace should not be taken for granted.

I MISS YOU

Somehow. Somewhere. Sometime.
I know. I know you will be there.
Waiting for me quietly.
I know you will withstand the time.
But as for me,
I don't know how I'm going to pass time.
Life without you,
has not been very smooth.
I have not seen a day,
that tears don't roll,
ever since you gone.
Are you in peace?
Are you happy?
Have you lack of anything?
Have you eaten?
These are the questions.
The ones I ask everyday.
But I still have not seen,
your beautiful spirit.
Just that 3 dreams in one night.
Not enough to make my heart feel peace.
Please let me see you again.
I know I'm not afraid if I do.
But if I don't,
I feel alone.
Don't leave me alone in this world.
I MISS YOU.

Technology angel or devil?

I believe most of us would have heard of hi5. Then came Frienster. Next up Facebook. And now Twitter. Furthermore, as we progress, more and more IT products are introduced into the markets.

Have we become too reliant on the computer, our handphone, our laptops, and other machines? Maybe we have become over reliant on these products. But then again, these products ease many inconveniences. And they allow us to complete our work in a timely and more organised manner.

Then again, not everyone is open to learning new information relating to IT. Maybe you might not be that IT savvy but you have to at least know the basic functions of a computer in order to survive in the working world nowadays. If not, very soon you'll be left far behind everyone else. Too far behind to catch up.
I strongly believe that we have to constantly update ourselves with the uses of the new IT products, be it the MP3, the radio, earphones, TV, hard disks. Without these, how else are we going to create presentation slides, record voices, etc?
Obviously, knowing how to use the usual windows programs is not enough.

The internet has become an efficient tool for effective communication when verbal communication is not convenient due to time constraints. But many a time, inconsiderate computer geeks create viruses to stop the momentum of the development of the internet. But at the same time, creat opportunities for computer geniuses to save the computer programs and even invent new programs to combact the "deadly viruses" .

SO IS IT AN ANGEL OR DEVIL?
You decide.

Emptiness

In the hole of a trunk,
where a destitute old man lie,
thinking of the misfortunes
that befallen upon him.

He, was once rich and mighty,
owning all the riches of the world.
But a turn of events left him in that sorry state.
Now, he lives in that hole in the tree trunk,
together with the little squirrels.

No money,
no gold,
no jewels.
Only an empty hole.

The squirrels bring him food,
and the tree provide him shelter.
He thought to himself,
"Was he really happier in the past,
when he owned the riches?"

He thought for a long long time.

Finally when he found an answer,
he realised it was in fact,
a blessing in disguise.

In the past,
he felt emptiness from within
was like a bottomless pit,
for no one cared for him.
They only cared for his money.

Now, the emptiness within the hole
is filled with the riches of the world.
Rich with love between him and the squirrels.

Thinking of this,
the old man curled up in his sleep,
with a smile on his face.

life and death

What is life and what is death?

At certain points in life, I believe most of us would have asked ourselves this question. I don't think there's a true answer to this. Why do people sometimes just go like that? This we will never fully understand. Some say fate. But can fate never be changed?
Some things will be left unanswered forever. Research and development may be rapidly growing but can one be absolutely sure that the findings are a hundred percent true? I doubt so.

Are the past beliefs true? I really would like to know. But I guess it's something we humans can never find out. Are they just myths waiting to be retold? Or are there people who came back from the dead to tell the living about the world on the other side.

What happens when humans die? Different people believe in different stories. How I wish some day soon science can explain everything. But on the other hand, I feel somehow that it's daunting. Maybe some things are better off left unsaid or unexplained.

A fine line can be drawn between life and death. Many a time we see people just pass away for almost no logical reason. So is there a distiction between the two. The line seems blurrer now that many scientists and psychologists from all over the world are trying to investigate life after death. It indeed causes our hair to raise sometimes, when unbelievable findings rip into our minds.

What do you think?
